OK, will the world REALLY end on December 21, 2012?

OK, while Nostradamical.com site is based on creating relevant and verifiable predictions on future events, it's also perfect for recording totally wild speculations such as the growing hysteria that the world will end on December 21st, 2012. The date marks the end of a 5,126-year cycle on the Long Count calendar developed by the Maya.
Yes folks even CNN is in on it. The whole concept has spawned a complete industry of related books, preparations and other 'useful' products such as shelters.
Why? Well the whole thing is based on apparently a combination of Mayan prophecy and some other semi-scientific mumbo jumbo. More below.
There's even a film planned starring John Cusask - good going guys. The Guardian discusses marketing tactics here. Oh and buy your books at the Amazon store to take this a little more seriously.

2012 is just the changing of ages, it has happened before, and it will happen again. There will be massive deaths, and revolutions, but when it comes down to it, the strongest of the strongest will survive. If your worried, take a vacation and stay at the pyrimids, or yucatan penninsula.
