Heath Ledger's lightning performance in The Dark Knight was really inspiring this year. It would be a great moment to see him receive a posthumous Oscar for his performance as The Joker opposite Christian Bale.

Sadly he died on the 22nd January 2008 during the filming before The Dark Knight was released. Somewhat sadly his death was voted the top entertainment story of 2008.

The Oscar nominations will be published on the 22nd January 2008 with the 81st Annual Academy Awards themselves being held in Hollywood on Sunday 22nd February 2008.
