Prediction #32
In Entertainment, FunkyDrummer contemplates...
Will 80's pop idol Rick Astley enter the charts again in 2009?
I forecast it 73% likely. Go Rick, go!
Hilariously, due to some vote rigging at this year's MTV’s Europe Music Awards Rick Astley of 80s pop fame was voted 'Best Act Ever' at the site bestactever.com.
He received 95% of the votes! Apparently this is all down to some screw up and he won't be collecting the award. A shame.
However clearly this could be the start of a comeback or sorts. Will we see him back in the charts of the next few months?
Stats from bestactever.com:
- Votes with WinRickVoter: 825,680,600
- Votes with WebRickVoter: 120 million
- Population of Europe: 728 million

- Population of Americas & Caribbean: 915 million

- Final Total: 945,680,600

No way for "Never gonna..."
The meme is dead. An unbeatable sign for it is, when it has reached the US house of representatives in form of Nancy Pelosi's Youtube Channel. So he won't come back with "Never gonna give you up 2009" but maybe with a new song. But will it be good enough for the charts?

Did Chuck Norris make a comeback after his internet meme-fame? Not really.

The mainstream music today is filled with pointless rap music, an alternative style of rock/pop and these overrated bands who only made it big because of the Disney Channel. The 80s unfortunately died in the very early 90s making it very unlikely for those 80s pop idols and bands to ever really see themselves on those charts again. The only exception i can think of is Bon Jovi at this time. I'm sorry man, but Rick won't be making it up there anyt
