I forecast it 18% likely. At least it would be shiny

The gravevine and twitter are full of rumours that Apple are building their own search engine which would presumably take on Google mano-a-mano. See Techcrunch for:

Clearly this doesn't make that much sense given Apple's current market focus. But what if this is the start of something new and a foray into more specalist search technology perhaps around their media channels or apps?
